The AAPA is the American Academy of Physician Assistants. They advocate on our behalf for nationwide changes in our profession, organize nationwide events, poll salaries, job placements etc.
Below you will find some information from the AAPA website about student and affiliate memberships.
Why should you be a student member?
As a PA student you are part of a profession that is made up of 93,000 skilled healthcare providers. The AAPA can provide you with information during PA school and help make a successful transition to your PA career. Joining as a student member is $75, you will have access to professional development resources, Huddle (Which is AAPA’s members-only online community) career tools, and many other opportunities to get involved at the program, state, or national level.
Are you a Pre-PA student?
You can still join the AAPA as an affiliate member and learn about how PA's offer more employment opportunities than ever! This membership is a bit more at $100. (I am not sure if the membership is transferable once you become a student, as it was not stated on the website). This is a great resume point to show PA programs that you are serious about becoming a part of the profession by joining the largest organization in the U.S. that represents PA's.
