In the middle of our first semester, we have a week break to recollect after the first month of business. During this week many people will go back to their hometowns or just take some time off from the books. Honestly, I feel very guilty not studying every day especially knowing we have so much to do in the next month! I have been randomly reviewing and making some general study guides for things we have covered prior to break but the highlight of this break for me was helping out with info session days and pre-pa interview days. AMC hosts an open house just about every month to help anyone in the local area learn about the program and what it takes to become a PA. One of our instructors asked a few students to help out and give some student points of view to the event. It was great for those who attended because there were only a few students who came and they all had different backgrounds of HCE, college, academics and life in general. I cannot wait for more of those events in the future!
At ACPHS, students can be interviewed for early acceptance to AMC's program and because I went through this process 4 years ago I was more than excited to help out. I am now able to tell the students how ACPHS helped me in PA school, what ACPHS was like academically and socially, as well as what PA school is like now. I love teaching and explaining things from experience to help others and being a part of admissions events is full of that kind of education. A huge reason I wanted to be a PA was because I believe a PA is a teacher in a sense. PAs teach patients about their illnesses in ways doctors cannot and dont have the time to. I cannot wait to use my experience and teaching skills in practice once I get more medical knowledge, because then, work will not seem like work, itll seem like fun!
